Hoag Healthcare in Newport Beach sought to transform their pediatric space into a welcoming and engaging environment for young patients. The primary objective was to create a relatable experience that would ease anxiety and foster a sense of comfort. To achieve this, the environmental graphics project centered around a theme that deeply reflected the Newport Beach community. Local landmarks became the heart of the illustrative design, connecting patients to familiar sights and experiences. The main hallway was conceptualized as a journey down the peninsula, with the left wall portraying the serene bay and charming homes, and the right wall capturing the vibrant beach and expansive ocean.

This immersive design was made possible by the creative team's dedicated on-site research, where they photographed and documented the area's unique characteristics. These visuals served as inspiration for the in-house illustrator, who meticulously recreated the landmarks, ensuring authenticity and connection. A crucial aspect of the project was the commitment to diversity and inclusion, representing people of various identities and abilities within the graphics. The result was a thoughtfully designed space that not only enhanced the patient experience but also celebrated the spirit of the Newport Beach community.
